With the release of Burning Crusade, a flurry of new creatable items have surfaced, many of which require Primal elements. These can be found, mined or transmuted from a variety of sources. Some are easy to farm, others are a complete pain to get. In case you happen to be in need of a certain Primal element or Mote of element, here’s something to help.
Step 1:
Find Motes of Earth in earth elementals, Fel Iron Deposits and Adamantite Deposits. The best place to harvest these from Earth Elementals is either in Nagrand or Netherstorm. These elementals have a higher drop percentage than elsewhere. The drops from Fel Iron and Adamantite Deposits are somewhat random. Fel Iron is most commonly found around the Dark Portal, but can be found all around Outland. Adamantite is common in Nagrand, Blade’s Edge Mountains and Netherstorm.
Step 2:
Obtain Motes of Fire from Fire Elementals and Fel Iron Deposits. Again, Fire elementals are best found in Nagrand, up on the Elemental Terrace in northeastern Nagrand. You need a flying mount to get there, but every type of elemental can be found there. There are also Fire Elementals in northeastern Blade’s Edge which drop Motes of Fire. Motes of Fire also drop randomly from Fel Iron Deposits.
Step 3:
Grab Motes of Air from Air Elementals. These motes are a little tricky, since they do not drop from any harvestable source; just from elementals. Nagrand is the best place for these since there are many to be found along cliff faces (along with Earth Elementals.) These can also be found with fair regularity off of Elementals in southeastern Shadowmoon Valley, though harvesting them in Nagrand is, without question, safer.
Step 4:
Look for Motes of Water off of Water Elementals, Lake Surgers and other similar mobs in Nagrand. These fickle elementals do drop Motes of Water with a modicum of regularity. Don’t expect to get a mote every kill, but when they do drop, you’re likely to get two of them. Find some underwater breathing potions to make farming them easier. There is also a small lake at the top of the waterfall at the Throne of Elements in Nagrand. Again, entry requires a flying mount, but the water elementals up top drop Motes of Water with greater frequency than Much Dwellers or Lake Surgers.
Step 5:
Farm Motes of Mana in Netherstorm. There are a number of mobs that drop them in Netherstorm, and it’s a good thing; they don’t drop anywhere else. Look for anything with “Mana” or “Warp” in its name. The Warp Aberrations south of Area 52 drop Motes of Mana, as well as any of the elementals in the Kirin’Var village. Farming these is dangerous, but highly profitable; depending on server economies, Motes/Primal Mana will sell for the highest price.
Step 6:
Get Motes of Shadow from the Voidwalkers in Hellfire Penninsula. Granted, Voidwalkers just about anywhere will drop these, but the ones in Hellfire Penninsula are the weakest.
Step 7:
Combine 10 Motes of a certain element to create a Primal element. These are what is primarily used for crafting recipes.
Step 8:
Find an Alchemist if you need a Primal you don’t have. There are several alchemy recipes that allow the transmutation of one Primal element to another. They are all very high-level recipes (skill level 350+), but are very handy if you have an abundance of Primal Earth, but desperately need Primal Fire. Remember to tip your Alchemist.
Step 9:
Transmute Primal Might from 1 each of Primal Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Mana. Primal Might is a highly sought-after item, and can typically fetch upwards of 90 gold each. They are required for the highest crafting plans and are difficult to farm.

Since I have some experience leveling Alliance characters in World of Warcraft, I thought I would put together a small WoW Alliance Leveling Guide for everyone to use. These are a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way that make World of Warcraft Power Leveling much easier. Hope you enjoy my little WoW Alliance Leveling Guide.
1 - Once you hit level 20, starting checking every mob you kill for loot. No telling when a purple or blue item will drop. These items usually fetch a hefty fee in the auction house so picking them up to sell them later can help you get gold much faster. More gold equals better items and faster travel. Better items and faster travel equal faster leveling speed.
2 - Whenever I reach the “5 levels” (15, 25, 35, etc), I try to get the best food and water I can. These seems to help me through the tough times when there are lots of enemies wanting a piece of me. Instead of wasting time waiting for my health and mana to return, the food and water help me get back into the action much sooner. When trying to level as fast as possible, downtime between battles is an unseen enemy. Reduce your downtime and you increase your leveling speed.
3 - I prefer to use the Night Elf race for Alliance leveling. There’s something about being able to hide in the shadows that makes it appealing. A night elf hunter can be almost invisible to mobs and other players. Sometimes the best battles are the ones we don’t fight. Long trips back from the cemetery put a dent in anyone’s leveling time.
4 - If starting a character on a new server, try to pick up the mining and skinning professions. These make it a lot easier to make money starting out. Hunters don’t make the best miners since they cannot hunt and mine at the same time. Skinning involves killing animals and then taking their fur. The fur can be sold later on for money.
There is mini WoW Alliance Leveling Guide. Hopefully, you’ll find these tips useful and your alliance leveling will improve.
