* Pressing Shift + B opens up all of your packs. Makes selling easier. You can also shift-click any bag in the toolbar to open/close them all.
* Holding down Alt causes you to select yourself as the target for spells, buffs, etc. F1 does this as well. F2-F5 selects your fellow party members. If they have a pet, hitting their F key twice will select the pet.
* Be sure to log out inside of an Inn or major town to build up your rest bonus. This bonus is determined by how long you are in the rest area (captial cities count in their enterity) and caps at approximately 1.5 levels worth of xp doubling which takes about 2 weeks in a rest area to hit.
This time accrues whether you are logged in or not so ALWAYS log in an inn or capital city.
* Shift + Right click to auto loot kills, crafting nodes, chests, and any world object that can be manipulated.
* Shift + Left Click either posts an item into the chat window as a link if you have chat open, or it splits a stack of items. This can also be used to select how many of a non-stacked item you want to buy from a vendor.
* With a teammate targetted, typing /assist will fight what they target. In the default configuration, “F” will select their target. If you’re running a pet, F1-F1-F will select whatever your pet is aggro’d on.
* Not so much at trick, but faction discounts apply to the flyers and trainers as well, so don’t be so quick to throw away newbie quests that you forget to complete - they help out in the long run. Be aware that the reputation received from a quest drops off sharply when it goes grey, unless the quest is a high-profile one for that faction (i.e. Defias for Stormwind). Also, many quests give reputation bonuses in more than one faction; you see this a lot with Ironforge/Gnomeregan Exiles. Finally, if you hover over a quest-giving NPC, the game now tells you in the tooltiip which faction they’re aligned with.
* The command /random # # makes dice rolls between the two numbers specified (ex: /random 1 100 will roll randomly (1-100)). It’s useful for quests and such, as I always use it to roll for chests or veins of ore, etc.
* Go Swimming There are often chests at the bottom of lakes aswell as mineral nodes that won’t show up on radar until you are submerged. (the lake outside Loch Modan (sp) is Amazing for tier 1 and has 5 chest spawns that I have found so far)
* Increase the range of your “Target nearest” key. Go into your WTF folder and edit the Config.wtf file. Add the following line at the bottom:
SET TargetNearestDistance “40.000000″
* The Auction House will respond to you much quicker if you narrow your search range. If nothing else, use the level range boxes, and search by armor/weapon category. Also, using the text-string search box is the fastest way I’ve found to find consumables.
* <Armor> of the <Animal>: These are paired stat bonuses based on the animal type, and they will always have the same two stats paired. If you’re looking for stat buffing armor, and you know what stats you want, search Auction House for the following animals:
Bear: Strength, Stamina (Warrior, Paladin)
Boar: Strength, Spirit (Decent for Troll Warriors (higher regen))
Eagle: Intellect, Stamina (Mage, Warlock, Priest)
Falcon: Intellect, Agility (Druid, Shaman)
Gorilla: Strength, Intellect (Druid, Shaman)
Monkey: Agility, Stamina (Hunter, Rogue)
Owl: Intellect, Spirit (Mage, Warlock, Priest)
Tiger: Strength, Agility (Decent for non-magic classes)
Whale: Spirit, Stamina (Maybe for a weird-build Pally…)
Wolf: Agility, Spirit (Hunter that wants mana back faster)
* To make fast cash when you’re really bored, farm -5/-6 humanoid creatures. They drop Linen/Wool/Silk, all of which sell very well in AH if you put low buyouts. They also drop more copper/silver than comparable beasts, demons, dragonkin, or elementals.
* Mobs turn grey (no experience) at -7.
* Cooked food stacks to higher amounts than raw food. By training cooking, you can double a single slot’s worth of storage, and get more benefit.
*While on autorun, hold down the right mouse button to steer. Easier to make small course corrections this way.
*If you train a new weapon skill, head to SW Tram station. Deeprun Rats spawn as fast as you can kill them in one corner of the station. I went from 20 - 60 skill in about 15 min.

World of Warcraft, published by Blizzard Entertainment, is an extremely popular game with over 7 million players worldwide. I joined these players for a long time, and played World of Warcraft as a Human Alliance Rogue, ready to sneak and backstab throughout the game, paying the hefty $15 a month fee just to take part in this online realm. Set in the fantasy land of Azeroth in the Warcraft Universe, World of Warcraft, sometimes known as WoW for short, has many players joining the game every single day, all throughout the world. For some of these beginning players, the wide array of options may frustrate or even turn them off to the game of World of Warcraft. However, a few simple pointers and hints may help make this beginning experience smooth and pleasant.
Now, while World of Warcraft is an online, persistent, world, it still is a computer game. There are tips and tricks that help make some players who may spend just as much time as you on the game into a better gamer with a stronger character. Many of these things are called ‘builds’, or popular combinations of skills a player trains his character in that helps him become a better character than someone who just trains his character all willy-nilly and all over the place in different things. Knowing that there are still tricks and patterns to follow in World of Warcraft, and that basic gaming concepts still apply, will help you become a better player in the land of Azeroth. Read the forums, and talk with other players of World of Warcraft, both online and offline, to find out what a popular ‘build’ is for your character, and how you can get your character on the best pathway in skill advancement.
Remember, if you really want to get good at WoW, you will have to dedicate quite a bit of time and effort. It is not easy to simply level up and become a very good player, and it takes a lot of ‘grinding’ and ‘questing’ to gain experience to become a strong denizen of Azeroth. When you start playing World of Warcraft, look at your time and priorities-if you don’t think you will have time for WoW, don’t get into it, as it definitely takes up time, although not as much as some other online role playing games that are also popular.
Find a good clan, and join it. Don’t just go and join some startup newbie guild that has only weak players-if you can get in with a big guild, that has many players at many different levels, than join them. You will have a better chance of finding someone online at the same time as you, that can help you tackle big raid dungeons and fight off ganking enemy troops. Friends and allies are essential in World of Warcraft, so it is best to make sure you have some early on.
Finally, after you have spent time researching the best build for your character, dedicated time to playing WoW, and grouped with a good gang of friends, make sure you have time for fun online. World of Warcraft, after all, is a game, and games are supposed to be fun, right? So, make sure to take time to kick back, chill and enjoy the wild land of Azeroth, and not just make everything into a crazy rush to level up. Balance your time playing, and you will have much more enjoyable time in the future

Under Beginners Guide+ Leveling Guide
Leveling a character in World of Warcraft is time consuming and extremely lengthy. Recently, with the launch of the expansion of World of Warcraft, the time it takes to get to max level has been lengthened by 10 grueling levels! For the player considering making a new character in the game, this can be quite discouraging. I’m here to share some tips which will hopefully reduce the frustration, and heighten your enjoyment when playing!
The initial discouragement comes from the thought of spending weeks to get to the “good part” of the game. Taking hours from each day for several months just isn’t feasible for some people, and given that World of Warcraft is pay-to-play, it just isn’t worth it to some folks.
There are also other problems throughout the journey, like obtaining enough money for all the different mount types (non-flying non-epic, non-flying epic, flying non-epic, and flying epic mounts), which if you wanted to get all of them, you would need to accumulate around 7,000 gold! If you were thinking about trying out the game, I’ve probably discouraged you from it by now, but all is not lost!
There are lots of things you can do to make the “job” of leveling and getting all this gold less of a task. Participating actively in the game lore can help with this. As you quest yourself silly, read the descriptions each quest gives you, try to link together the different pieces of the lore (World of Warcraft has a LOT of lore, dating back roughly 10 years since Blizzard first created the original real time strategy game, Warcraft). Every part of the game, every quest, every town, every instance, EVERYTHING is related and is linked in one big storyline! It’s quite interesting to follow, especially if you enjoy fantasy/fiction, which I would assume you do if you are considering playing, or already play.
Getting involved in the game and learning about it will make each level more enjoyable, but there is something else that is even more helpful. Playing with friends! Everyone knows at least one person who plays World of Warcraft, they might be in the closet about it, but if questioned thoroughly they can be persuaded to admit to it! Find out what server your friends play on and start characters with them! It will greatly enhance your experience, and it really will speed up the process of leveling. If you do not know anyone, seek out other lonely players like yourself and start a guild and level with them, or join someone who already has a guild made, with players in your level range.
Guilds are a great way to bring more enjoyment to the game. A guild is a great place to meet new friends! In my two year career of playing World of Warcraft, I’ve met countless people who I now consider friends, through guilds! All fantastic players who I would love to have fighting by my side. Joining a guild also has other perks; your higher level guild mates may be able to help you if you are having trouble with a quest, or if you need a quick run through an instance if you can’t find a PUG (pick up group, which is a random group of players going to a dungeon together). Some guilds offer other fun activities, like scavenger hunts, PVP events, end-game raiding, etc. Finding a guild that is right for you will definitely enhance your experience.
Choosing the right server type will also influence how fast (or slow) you level. If you’re looking for the quickest road to 70, stay away from servers marked PVP, for these will be the bane of your time on the game. A server marked for PVP means that you are an open target to any player that feels like killing you when you are in a contested zone. After level 20, almost all questing areas are contested, and from experience, most players on PVP servers are ruthless. Granted, if you are up for the challenge, by all means start your character on a PVP server, the realism of being able to kill or be killed freely is enticing to some, but for the weak of heart, it is better to stay away.
The other options from PVP servers are the Normal and RP servers. These types of servers give players the option of choosing when and where they engage in PVP. Players must be “flagged” by their own doing (typing /pvp) before engaging in combat, and any player not flagged is unable to be harmed. These are definitely the servers of choice if you are looking for an easy ride to 70, because being “ganked” as it is called, can really cut into the experience gain. If you’re wondering, Normal and RP servers differ only in the fact that RP servers condone Role Play, that is, a person playing their character as if they really were that character. If RP annoys you it would be better to avoid these types of servers.
From an experienced player of two years, the above tips will greatly enhance your game play. I have yet to be bored just because the game is so interesting! And the fact that Blizzard is continually expanding the game and adding new things will definitely keep people hooked for a very long time. Remember also, that if you enjoy doing something, it isn’t really a waste of time. Just be sure to keep yourself balanced between your play time, and time spent doing real life things. Happy leveling!
